NASA's Day of Remembrance is observed annually on NASA's Day of Remembrance is observed annually on the last Thursday of January and this year that is today, January 26.
.
The day is organized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (N.A.S.A), the body responsible for managing U.S. space research
and other activities. Space exploration is perilous, yet scientists and astronauts accept this challenge bravely. This day commemorates the members of the N.A.S.A. family who gave up their lives to advance the cause of space
discovery. These include the crew members of the space missions Apollo 1, Challenger, and Columbia. This year, the NASA Day of Remembrance also commemorates the tragedy of Apollo 1, which occurred 55 years ago.

.
The story of the Frisbee began in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where William Frisbie opened the Frisbie Pie Company in 1871. Students from nearby universities would throw the empty pie tins to each other, yelling ā€œFrisbie!ā€ as they let go. In 1948, Walter Frederick Morrison and his partner Warren Franscioni invented a plastic version of the disc called the ā€œFlying Saucerā€ that could fly farther and in a more precise trajectory than the tin pie plates. After splitting with Franscioni, Morrison made an improved model in 1955 and sold it to the new toy company Wham-O as the ā€œPluto Platterā€- an attempt to cash in on the public craze over space and Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). šŸ›ø

This 1951 photo from miSci’s Archives features M This 1951 photo from miSci’s Archives features Miss Lea Jahns of Boston comparing the size of a new light meter - named the Mascot - with a box of matches. Introduced by GE, it was the first exposure meter to be developed primarily for use with color film. Although only about half the size of standard-size exposure meters of the day, it was described as ā€œcomparable in accuracy and sensitivityā€ to larger models.
.
Light meters calculate the proper exposure when taking a photograph – whether it’s a wide-open landscape, a tiny insect on a flower, or a portrait of a friend, the camera needs to know what combination of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO is required to get the job done. This is known as the Exposure Triangle and the parameters it sets rely on a meter to measure the intensity of light first.
.
Every modern camera contains its own light meter. Without it, you simply wouldn’t be able to shoot a well-exposed photo. The light meter in your camera works by reading the light reflecting off the scene, before converting it into an Exposure Value.
