miSci’s Model Trains Show features a 19 x 27-foot display with five tracks that weave through scenes of amusement parks, a vintage Plasticville town, and freight yards and depicts how trains transformed transportation and impacted the growth of the country. New lighting and working crossing gates have been added for this year’s display.

An exhibition of approximately fifty photographs and works of art depicting scenes from the history of the American Locomotive Company and General Electric’s development of locomotives will also be on view in the Museum’s newly-renovated Lecture Gallery. Highlights include an 1895 photograph by famed GE engineer, Charles Steinmetz, of New York Central’s Empire State Express, a steam locomotive that was built in Albany and set a world record by traveling 112 miles per hour; a photo of Big Boy, a 1.2-million-pound locomotive that was the largest ever built; and a 1932 work of art by Walter Greene titled More Power and Speed for New Haven that was commissioned by GE to promote their line of modern streamlined locomotives.
